That’s good enough.

That’s how it has to be when doing a creative project because it will never be perfect. It just has to be good enough.

Creativity is mostly about making choices and making decisions. There are an infinite amount of ways to make a film, write a novel, paint a picture, write a song etc. It is not a matter of one choice being correct and another choice being wrong.

It is a matter of making a decision and moving forward.

That is the different between creative work and non-creative work. Filling out a tax return or a renewal for a driver’s license is not creative. There is a right way and a wrong way to do it. If you do not do it the right way, it will be rejected.

A hundred people could look at the same script and make suggestions on how to shoot it. None of them are wrong, but none of them are right.

Frustrating, yes, but also exhilarating.

Creating something truly original requires patience and confidence. Because no one knows the answer.

That’s fine. It’s more than fine; it is wonderful. If there were an answer, one right answer, what would be the point? We would all be copying the same answer over and over.

What would you be creating?
